Those of you who don’t know me… my name is Andy Estaver, a classmate of brother T.W. here at St. Paul’s and also at “Flunk ‘em you Betcha” High, just down the road … but many years ago … Allison, in league with Ms. Pellerin over there … changed my name to ANDERFER ESTE’, I never dared ask what inspired that alias…

But … since they were … “Head Mistresses of ‘the World’s Finest Beach … Run Amuck”, I felt it only wise to humbly accept their new handle.

Those many years ago, when Allison and Cheryl welcomed me into the “Groucho Marx” slash “64 Thousand Dollar Question game show” … that is their friendship … I didn’t realize it would be such an enduring and rewarding association.

In all my experience with Allison, only one negative thing exists, and that is … ”that I won’t be able to see her again.”

Everything else I recall about her is … radiant …

Her wit, grace, humor, beauty and that sparkling smile … all the qualities that made her such an easy friend to love and respect.

Let me share a little something about Big Al that I recalled on my way here.

Two years ago, she honored me by inviting me to accompany her to her class reunion. When I arrived to pick her up she was looking fabulous as usual, but she was wearing a rather bold accessory. Her diamond tiara from her Miss Fletcher reign.

I was just dying … it was so over the top, but … by all that’s right with this world … tiaras were made for women like Allison.

Before I could even say anything, she put her finger to her lips and said “I know, I know” … “I’m giving it to the new Miss Fletcher tonight.”

And when I gave her a puzzled look, she quickly explained … “Whoever seems nicest.”

I don’t know who she selected that night as there are a few blurred frames in that night’s filming, but from my point of view, if it was to go to the “nicest” … she could have just worn it home herself.

I have a whole catalog of Allison memories that endear her to me … as do you all. Let’s go away from here today knowing that she is still with us. And remembering that we are lucky to have had the honor and pleasure of her gentle company.
